Abstract

This collection consists of the diary of Annie Mae Bare, as well as a class book and some family photographs. The diary consists mainly of every day family life, talking about her home and the weather.

Biographical History

Annie Mae Hughes Bare was born on January 27, 1907 in West Virginia. She was married to Henry Wagoner Bare, and together they had at least 5 children - Emmy Lou, Daniel Lee, Nola Sue, Wagoner H., and Patsy M. She died in 1996. 

Emmy Lou Bare was born September 11, 1927. She married Joseph Anthony Genovese on August 27, 1949 and they had 5 children. She died October 24, 2011. 

Scope and Content Note

The diary in this collection belongs to Annie Mae Bare, and it spans the years 1936-1940. She talks mostly about her home life and family, making note of people she saw and the weather for the day. The class book belongs to her daughter, Emmy Lou Bare, with entries dating between 1940-1942. The rest of the collection consists of photographs of the family, mostly Emmy Lou, but also her siblings and other relatives. This is a digital collection available through DropBox.
