Abstract

This postcard from the Baltimore Steam Packet Company depicts a new steamship on the Old Bay Line, the President Warfield, which was built in 1928. In 1947, the ship became known as Exodus, which carried Jewish refugees from Europe in an unsuccessful attempt to emigrate to Mandatory Palestine.

Administrative History

The Baltimore Steam Packet Company was nicknamed the Old Bay Line and was a steamship line that operated on the Chesapeake Bay from 1840 to 1962. The collection includes a 2022 printout of the company's Wikipedia page.
