These 20 lithograph prints were created by the Empire of Japan during the Second World War to help improve morale among Japanese citizens. They depict various military victories in the Pacific including air, naval, and island battles with the Dutch, Americans, and British. The exhibition of prints was issued by the Imperial Japanese Army Arts Association and each print has a title printed in Japanese on a protective paper.

This leaflet was a propaganda piece produced by the Japanese and targeted Australian soldiers. It warned the soldiers that "BLACKS" and "YANKS" were raping their wives, daughters, and sweethearts while they're off fighting.

These three postcards were issued by the Postal Forwarding Bureau of Japan during the Second World War and commemorate early military victories: the bombing of Pearl Harbor on December 8, 1941, the capture of the Anti-Aircraft Battery at Wong Neichong on December 19, 1941, and the Fall of Singapore on February 17, 1942.
Jeanne Severance Letters

This collection consists of letters from Jeanne Severance, a Red Cross volunteer, to Martha and Constance Greene from 1945 to 1946. Severance wrote from and reported on events in the many places she served, which included France, India, China, Myanmar, and Mexico. Several letters were censored by the United States Army. Also included are photographs of the Greenes in 1962 and some newspaper clippings. At the time, the Greenes had opened the office of Martha Greene real estate company on Long Island in Montauk, New York; there are several pictures of Martha in front of the original offices. The transcription of the letters is attached.

The Jesse M. Pollitt papers portray a young man’s experience of the phases of war training, stationing, and naval service of World War II, and the written relationship men maintained with their families. Specifically, correspondence between Pollitt and his mother Agnes Malone Pollitt during his service in the United States Marine Corps from 1943-1946. The letters document his experiences at boot camp at Parris Island, South Carolina and his subsequent postings in Washington, D.C. and North Carolina.

This collection consists of correspondence from John E. Grubb, who served as an Aviation Chief Machinist’s Mate (ACMM) in the Navy during WWII. Most of the letters are written to his wife, Annie Murrell “Merle” Allcorn, at home in Texas. The letters date from 1941 -1952, with the majority of letters written from 1944-1945.

The Joseph Haddaway Layton collection contains two miniature booklets on the military missions given to the Third Armored Division during the Ruhr Valley operations against Nazi Germany in the latter part of 1944. The books were issued to Colonel Layton, who was attached to the Third Armored on March 24, 1942.

Joe Long was an American athlete, soldier, railroad worker, and politician born in 1921 in Delmar, Maryland. The Joe Long collection contains material compiled by Joe Long and his wife Mabel, who acted his campaign manager during campaigns. Materials included are newspapers, government bills, speeches, cards, letters, books, scrapbooks, and photographs compiled and saved by the Longs since the late 1930's.
