Folklife Collection - Chesapeake Bay Ferries 1919-1952
by Salisbury University Students (1992)
1 folder (0.1 linear feet)
In 1992, former Salisbury University student Dina Hutchinson collected folk material. Her collection focuses on the ferries of Chesapeake Bay from 1919 to 1952. The first part of her paper retraces the history of the bay from as early as the 1800s, followed by the personal narratives of Mr. Willard Thomas who worked on the Matapeake-Annapolis route until 1952, revealing different forms of folklore along the way. Tape and photographs enclosed.
