Masters in Education Research Papers

The Masters in Education collection includes written works containing research papers by Salisbury State College students in the Master of Education program. All of the papers were written between 1968 and 1987, but a majority of them were written between 1970 and 1977. The papers contain a wide range of topics including local and international education, trends in education, the history of education, tenure laws, child learning development and other general topics in the field of Education. The papers were submitted toward completion of the degree of Masters in Education.
Masters Theses, Doctor of Nursing Projects, and Ed.D Dissertation Projects

Since 1967, Salisbury University students who completed theses for their master’s degrees have deposited a copy in the University Archives. With the addition of Nursing and Education Doctoral Programs in 2015 and 2018 respectively , students also deposited their Doctoral in Nursing Projects (DNPs) and Ed.D Dissertation Projects. Until 2023, original copies were bound and cataloged and are available in our stacks. Additionally, many unbound duplicates of masters theses were placed in this collection. Beginning in 2023, unbound, but cataloged, copies of Theses, DNPs, and Ed.D dissertations were deposited into the University Archives. This collection also holds some administrative files relating to the binding, copyright, and digitization of the Master Theses from 2009-2010.
Mathematics and Penmanship Journals

These two mathematics and penmanship journals were created by students who were learning mathematic principles and practicing penmanship. The first journal does not have an identified creator, but may have been from Pennsylvania; the writing in this journal dates between 1823 and 1832. The second journal was created by Daniel Moore and dates between 1829 and 1835. Both of these journals demonstrate the style of penmanship being taught, the level of mathematics children were expected to understand, and the variety of examples used throughout classes that reflect world affairs.
Melvin M. Palmer diplomas

This collection contains two diplomas and a certificate given to Melvin M. Palmer from 1924 to 1929. Included are the 1924 and 1928 diplomas for completion of elementary grades while he was a pupil at Snow Hill Public School No. 2, District no. 5 and Snow Hill High School, as well as a 1929 Business Administration Certificate from Columbia Institute of Chicago, Ill.

The papers of Mildred Jeter Lewis (b. 1913) is a series of correspondence between family members including Mildred and her mother mother Mignow (1890-1990) and from Milgnow's mother Emma Gregory (1854-?). Correspondence also includes a note from a teacher Bessie Justice to Mildred, after a move to Roanoke, Virgnia from Blackstone, Virgnia.

The Minutes of the Euzelian Club were written from 1944 to 1950, most likely in New Jersey. The Euzelian Club met in order to discuss the arts and read papers for discussion. Extra papers included detail visitors to the club, finances of the club, events held by the club, and records of which members paid their dues. Events mentioned included tea parties and an ordeal called the "Tacky party," which was held around Christmas.

Although many of Crawford’s personal papers date prior to his arrival at Salisbury in 1970, there are materials, some of which relate to his continuing relationship with Salisbury, that date after 1980.
